  1. Wow, this is so fascinating. It’s huge for world-building science fiction. So often sci fi writers toil away dreaming up sophisticated elements for their stories, and interestingly, they occasionally intersect with ground-breaking real science—sometimes separated by years, but still right on the money. Raoul Mongilardi came up with this scenario in which an alien megastructure surrounds a solar system in order to harvest its solar energy, and it happens to exactly mirror what scientists are hypothesizing might be the case if this star’s unique light signature were in fact an alien megastructure. It’s an additional treat for me, since I consulted with Raoul at one point, developing a treatment for the screenplay, and worked extensively with Raoul’s amazing world building. It’s a great joy to see his books so well received, and then to see them closely linked to this fascinating possible development in cosmology, especially with this new interview with Raoul today on Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/xaque-gruber/the-dyson-sphere—not-ju_b_8445640.html?utm_hp_ref=science&ir=Science
